Strategic Learning & Development Assessment |
|
Private psychological evaluations for gifted, neurodiverse, and high-potential learners—tailored for families navigating elite academics, learning concerns, or long-term educational planning.
The Strategic Learning & Development Assessment is a premium evaluation designed to clarify how your child thinks, learns, and performs, whether they are thriving, struggling, or somewhere in between. It supports families seeking clarity around cognitive or learning differences, social-emotional and behavioural development, neurodivergent traits, giftedness or twice-exceptionality, as well as those pursuing proactive insight for school placement, testing accommodations, or long-term academic strategy (e.g., identifying a child’s unique learning profile in order to guide enrichment, educational planning, or development over time). |

How Long is the Waitlist? There is no waitlist for the Strategic Learning & Development Assessment. This assessment model was created specifically to eliminate the delays and bottlenecks that often come with traditional evaluation services. Rather than maintaining a long queue, appointments are offered on a selective, rolling basis each month. About Availability and Access Dr. Heiner’s practice is intentionally small and highly specialized. She accepts only a limited number of assessments each month to ensure that each family receives the time, depth, and individualized attention required for comprehensive formulation and strategic guidance. This selective model allows her to work closely with families seeking the highest level of precision and insight, rather than operating a high-volume service. Because of this model, fees are fixed and exceptions or sliding scales are not available. |

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
Is this a psychoeducational assessment?
Yes, and more. This service includes all of the core components typically found in a psychoeducational assessment, such as cognitive testing, academic achievement, attention, and executive functioning. However, it goes beyond standard testing to offer a more strategic, tailored, and integrative understanding of your child’s learning profile, strengths, vulnerabilities, and long-term academic planning.
Is this an autism assessment?
Yes, if autism is a relevant concern. The assessment can include structured tools, clinical interviews, and observational data used to evaluate social communication, sensory features, and other traits associated with autism. However, an autism diagnosis is only considered when appropriate and is never forced. The broader goal is to understand your child holistically, not just to assign a label.
Do you provide a diagnosis?
Yes, when it is appropriate. Diagnoses such as ADHD, learning disorders, or autism spectrum traits are included only if they are clearly supported by the data and relevant to your concerns. A diagnosis is never the default outcome.
What ages do you assess?
This service is for school-aged children and adolescents, typically between the ages of 5 and 19, as well as college-aged adolescents up to age 21. Adult assessments are not offered at this time.
Can we use this report to apply for accommodations on standardized tests?
Yes. When appropriate, the report can be used to support accommodations for standardized tests such as the SSAT, ISEE, SAT, ACT, or university-level assessments.
What if my child doesn’t seem to be struggling? We just want to understand them better.
Many families pursue this evaluation not because their child is in crisis, but because they want clarity, strategic insight, or peace of mind. This is especially common with gifted, twice-exceptional, or high-functioning learners who appear to be doing well but may have subtle challenges or underrecognized strengths.
We’re not sure if the school will support us. Can we still proceed?
Yes. You do not need permission from the school to pursue a private evaluation. With your consent, Dr. Heiner can collect information from and share relevant findings or recommendations with the school to support advocacy, placement, or planning.
