Strategic Learning & Development Assessment

Private psychological evaluation for children and adolescents with complex learning, developmental, or high-ability profiles.  This service is designed for families seeking a precise understanding of how a child thinks, learns, and functions, particularly in cases where there is uncertainty, inconsistency, or high academic or developmental stakes.

When This Assessment Is Pursued

Families typically pursue this evaluation when:
  • a child’s performance does not match their apparent ability;
  • there are overlapping or unclear concerns (e.g., attention, learning, or social functioning);
  • prior assessments have not provided sufficient clarity;
  • decisions are required regarding school placement, accommodations, or long-term planning.

Scope of Assessment

The assessment includes:
  • multi-source data collection, including interview, standardized testing, and collateral information;
  • in-person evaluation sessions;
  • analysis across cognitive processes, attention, working memory, processing speed and efficiency, academic, and social-emotional domains;
  • a written report addressing the referral questions;
  • a feedback session to review findings and recommendations.

Use of Findings

Depending on the referral question, this evaluation may be used to:
  • support applications for academic accommodations and / or modifications;
  • guide educational planning or school placement decisions;
  • clarify diagnostic questions where concerns are complex or overlapping;
  • inform longer-term academic or developmental strategy.

Availability

A limited number of assessments are accepted each month.  Appointments are offered on a selective, rolling basis rather than through a standing waitlist.

Fees & Structure

This is a fixed-fee service of $7,500.
The assessment is typically completed within 4-6 weeks from the first testing session.
Modified or sliding-scale arrangements are not available.

Clinical Considerations

  • Diagnostic conclusions (e.g., ADHD, learning disorders, autism) are provided only when clearly supported by the data and relevant to the referral question;
  • Autism-related assessment components may be included when clinically indicated;
  • This service is limited to school-aged children and adolescents aged 5 to 21.

Next Steps

Initial inquiries are reviewed to determine whether this service is appropriate for the referral question.

Parents or legal guardians may submit an application here.
Professional referrals are also accepted here.

Additional Consultation (Secondary Service)

Consultation may be available to review and interpret previously completed psychoeducational or diagnostic assessments where clarification is required.  This service is distinct from the Strategic Learning & Development Assessment (SL&DA) and does not involve new testing or formal evaluation.
